Runnin' on empty

Hola Mi Amigos

I am currently living in funky town. I am angry and depressed and majorly stressed out. My kiddo decided about two weeks ago that he will not sleep unless I am in the room with him. I feel trapped and powerless and frustrated; ineffective and overwhelmed.

I have come to the conclusion that I need some professional help to deal with this sleep situation. Its BAD. I have read that when going through developmental growth that they (kiddos) will regress in other areas, but this is CRAZY. When we leave him, he screams bloody murder. Whats worse, he can now say words. So he will scream PEE PEE POTTY, or MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMY. It makes me want to stick spears in my ears.

Additionally, I have realized that (as I wrote somewhere else) that I am attempting to pour water from an empty vessel. I cannot give and give of myself without replenishing and expect to be a sane person. So... I need to figure out how to "fill up". If you have any ideas, let me know.

OMG the PEE PEE in the POTTY is totally what I get around here! Especially in the morning when he wanting me to get up... Funny how quickly they learn that.

Do you think if you just get ear plugs and stand your ground one night it would work?!?!? I know that is easier said than done!!!

I hope that you are able to get some much needed rest soon...

Sending you big hugs!!

Has he gotten to the stage where he wants to use the potty everywhere you go? That's always fun. We had the same "have to sleep in the same room" problem with Mike (when he was little! lol). We kept telling him he had to sleep in his bed and it would be a big deal and very frustrating. Then, apparently he decided that we didn't really need to know about it. We would wake up in the morning and he'd be asleep on the floor next to our bed! We told him that he couldn't sleep there, so the next thing was when we opened our bedroom door (we never closed it completely, only about halfway) and he'd be sleeping just outside our bedroom door!! I don't remember if we had to move him inch by inch back to sleeping in his bed, but that "funky town" place sounds awfully familiar....
